Stimulated Raman scattering effect in the Silica-alumina fibers
We present experimental results of stimulated Raman scattering in silica-alumina fiber using the optical pump power combination scheme of middle-power laser diodes at wavelength of 1470-1471 nm. The optical single-pass gain of Raman fiber amplifier achieved up to 11 dB in the CW and 2.5 GHz modulated signal regimes at wavelength range of 1550 nm when the pumped power is of 29.54 dBm (900 mW) in silica-alumina optical fiber with the fiber length of 65-85 Km. This distributed-pump Raman fiber amplifier can be used in high-speed long-haul DWDM fiber optic communication networks.

Optical amplifier based on simulated Raman scattering effect
The broad band an low noise figure of a Raman Optical Amplifier makes it attractive for use in high-capacity, long-haul transmission systems. In this paper we present experimental results of optical amplifier using stimulated Raman scattering effect in germano-silica fiber pumped by laser diodes at wave of 1470-1471 nm. The amplifier coefficient of Raman Optical Amplifier achieved up to 11 dB in the wavelength range of 1550 nm when the pumped power is of 29.54 dBm (900 mW) in standard optical fiber SMF-28 with the fiber length of 85 Km. This Raman Optical Amplifier can be used in high-speed DWDM fiber optic communication networks.

Control of whispering-gallery-mode spectrum from
erbium-doped silica microsphere lasers
High-power whispering-gallery modes (WGMs) emitted from microcavity lasers have attracted attention for many
applications, such as optical signal processing, spectroscopy, optical sensors, and large-bandwidth optical com-
munications. In this paper, we present a simple approach for controlling the outputWGMs of erbium-doped silica
microsphere lasers. With the presented scheme, accurate adjustment of the coupling gap between the collection
fiber taper and the spherical surface allows us to select different single modes of the microsphere laser or different
multimode configurations (also functions of the waist diameter of taper and the Er-doped concentration). The
nonlinear frequency shift of the microsphere cavity as a function of intracavity power has also been studied.
The high intensity and high sidemode suppression ratio of the obtained singleWGMare suitable for spectroscopy,
optical sensors, and communications. © 2013 Optical Society of America

The Effects of ASE Noise and the Position of EDFA Amplifier on Multi-Wavelength OCDM-Based Long-Reach Passive Optical Networks
In this paper, we investigate effects of Erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) amplified
spontaneous emission (ASE) noise on the performance of multi-wavelength OCDMA-based Long-
Reach Passive Optical Networks. In addition, other noise and interference such as shot noise,
thermal noise, beat noise, and multiple-access interference (MAI) are included in our theoretical
analysis and simulation. We found that the location of EDFA on the link between OLT and ONUs
plays an important role in network design since it affects network performance. Analytical results
show that, to achieve low bit error rate, the EDFA should be located around 10 to 20 km from
OLT when total link distance of 90 km.

Effects of ASE Noise and Dispersion Chromatic on Performance of DWDM Networks using Distributed Raman Amplifiers
We investigate effects of amplified spontaneous emission noise (ASE), noise figure (NF) and dispersion chromatic
on the performance of DWDM networks using distributed optical fiber Raman amplifiers (DRAs) in two different pump configurations, i.e., forward and backward pumping. We found that the pumping configurations, ASE noise, and dispersion play an important role in network performance improving since it reduces noise figure and bit error rate (BER) of the system. Simulation results show that the lowest bit error rate and noise figure when using forward pumping configuration. Moreover, we have also compared ASE noise powers of the simulation with these of the experiment, they are match.

Influence of ASE noise on performance of DWDM networks using low-power pumped Raman amplifiers
We present the results of investigation for influence of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise, noise figure (NF) and chromatic dispersion on the performance of middle-distance Dense-wavelength-division-multiplexing (DWDM) networks using low-power pumped distributed Raman amplifiers (DRAs) in two different pump configurations, i.e., forward and backward pumping. We found that the pumping configurations, ASE noise, and dispersion play an important role for improving network performance by decrease of noise figure and bit error rate (BER) of the system. Simulation results show that the lowest bit error rate and low noise figure were obtained, when using forward pumping configuration. Moreover, we have also compared ASE noise powers of the simulation with these of the experiment. These results conclude that DRA with low pump power ($<1$~W) is the promising key technology for short-- and/or middle-distance DWDM transmission networks.
