There are some studies that built landslide monitoring systems based on wireless sensor network (WSN). However, there is not any WSN that is the best standard for landslide monitoring system. The energy saving which helps extend the lifetime of the landslide monitoring system is very important. This paper focuses on the development of a WSN system with the proposed energy efficient scheme. In this work, we build a complete system that consists of sensor nodes, a gateway node, a database, a website interface and an Android application for landslide monitoring application. The energy efficiency scheme is applied at sensor nodes to increase the lifetime of sensor node up to 154 times and significantly increase the rate of successfully received packets. The system is also assembled and measured in the lab and the outdoor to analyse initial results. date: 2018 date_type: published publisher: Inderscience Publishers (IEL) official_url: http://www.inderscience.com/ijict full_text_status: public publication: International Journal of Information and Communication Technology volume: 13 number: 2 pagerange: 227-242 refereed: TRUE issn: 1741-8070 citation: Nguyen, Dinh Chinh and Tran, Duc Tan (2018) Development and implementation of a wireless sensor system for landslide monitoring application in Vietnam.
