"Visible light communications (VLC) is\r\nconsidered as an alternative communications technology\r\nfor providing indoor wireless services. VLC systems are\r\nexpected to offer high data transmission rate and seamless\r\ncoverage. In order to achieve these requirements, VLC\r\nsystems utilizing multi-lightbeam access points (multibeam\r\nVLC-AP) for downlink transmission have been\r\nproposed recently. In this paper, we present a lightbeam\r\nconfiguration method and an interference elimination\r\nresource scheduling mechanism (IERS) for indoor multibeam\r\nmulti-access point VLC systems. The proposed lightbeam\r\nconfiguration method ensures seamless connectivity\r\nbetween user equipment and VLC-AP. The proposed IERS\r\nmechanism consists of a beam assignment algorithm and\r\na resource allocation algorithm for eliminating co-channel\r\ninterference as well as improving system performance.\r\nPerformance results obtained by computer simulation\r\nindicate that there are significant improvements in terms\r\nof downlink signal to interference plus noise ratio, user\r\nthroughput and packet delay when the proposed IERS\r\nmechanism is deployed."^^ .
