However, many crops and special growing conditions require low-flying UAVs to collect data such as orchards. This challenge with the safety control algorithm of the UAVs. The research aims to develop UAVs capable of autopilot and sampling at low altitudes. The safety control problem of UAV is solved by the Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO) algorithm using a stereo camera synchronized with an inertial measurement unit (IMU). Besides that, the UAV is equipped with a high-resolution RBG camera for data sampling. The system has been tested under various conditions of low-ceiling performance with altitude hold and obstacle avoidance requirements, and the collected data is satisfactory for use. date: 2021-11 date_type: published official_url: https://icema.uet.vnu.edu.vn full_text_status: public pres_type: paper event_title: 2021 6th International Conference on Engineering Mechanics and Automation event_type: conference refereed: TRUE citation: Vu, Minh Trung and Nguyen, Truong Son and Quach, Cong Hoang and Pham, Minh Trien (2021) Design and implement UAV for low-altitude data collection in precision agriculture.
