"The aim of this study was to investigate the optimal growing season, \r\nplanting density and fertilizer levels on the development of \"Huyet \r\nRong\" herbal rice variety in Quang Tri Province. Particularly, four\r\nformulas of each growing seasons, planting densities and fertilizer \r\nlevels were designed to evalute the growth, development, \r\nproductivity, and major insects/diseases resistance of the \"Huyet \r\nRong\" herbal rice variety. As a result, the growing season from \r\nmiddle - last October (from 15th to 25th, October) has been \r\ndemonstrated to be the optimum stage for rice production as the \r\nproductivity reached the highest value by 3.5 - 3.7 tons/ha. Next, we \r\nfound that the planting density of 30 - 35 hills/m2\r\nand the formula of \r\n(1 ton of cattle manure + 60 kg P2O5 + 50 kg K2O with an additional \r\nof 50 - 70 kg N)/ha exhibited the highest yield. The rice variety was \r\nalso slightly susceptible to major pests and diseases. Our analysis \r\nindicated that the grain contains high anthocyanin content (534.8 mg \r\nper 100 g), protein (8.90%), vitamin, Fe and Ca. Taken together, our \r\nstudy could provide critical data for further establishment of the \r\ncultivation of Huyet Rong herbal rice variety in Quang Tri province."^^ . . .
